There was a whole lot of nothing going on at the final day of mini-camp. That’s the last you will see of the Packers until August 1st.
It was pretty quiet to say the least today. Here are the notables.
The Breakdown
- All veterans were present.
- Jennings is playing it cool like nothing ever happened.
- Meredith was so sick yesterday he was on a cart. Should they have moved it inside today?
- Kampman heard about the death of his high school coach. Will not be talking.
- Philbin ran the offense as McCarthy didn’t show up until practice was almost over. This was just a formality.
Like I said, not a whole lot going on at all. Hopefully we get some nice video for you later tonight. It’s going to be a long long wait until August.
Check back, if anything notable comes out of McCarthy’s press conference I will add it here.
EDIT: Some notes from McCarthy
Practice was not shortened for the weather it was planned all along. McCarthy thought they got quite a bit accomplished during OTA’s.
On Jennings: “We’re excited for Greg Jennings’ future here, there’s no doubt. I think Greg is a young man that’s developed here in Green Bay, and I can’t say enough about him personally. … He’s definitely well-deserving of his contract.”
Harrell was out of practice with an illness, not injured.

MrBacon Said,

Thats what I was thinking, but I think the reason why you practice outside during this mini-camp, was that you make the players build a tolerence to the outside weather.
August will still have high temperatures, so making them play indoors will only delay the training camp process.

I agree, no need to take chances though. Guys on stretchers is not good.

Yeah, so thats why you just let them take jog throughs or slow movements.

Asshalo Said,From Iowa and AK74’s coach became a bit of symbol for the state after last year’s tornado’s and floods. He was held in high regard even before the disasters and ESPN stories. That whole town came together after it (applington-parkersburg) was blown off the map– all to make sure the stadium named after the head coach would be ready in time for the season opener.
I guess there were about 50 athletes in the weight room when he was shot in the head multiple times. Those poor kids and that poor town. I will definitely be rooting for those guys around September.

I’ve heard there were 50 in the weight room and 4. I think there were just 50 in the entire school.
