The talks between the Green Bay Packers and first round draft pick B.J. Raji have reached an impasse.
According to Scott Wisniewski on ESPN 540, contract talks between the Packers and B.J. Raji have come to a grinding halt.
Said Wisniewski: “The sides are even further apart than they were before. Raji’s agent may be waiting for No. 10 pick Michael Crabtree to sign a deal, but there are no indications that will happen soon. Raji was picked 9th overall.”
Wiesniewski said that for all extents and purposes the talks have officially “stalled.”
I know there will be a chorus of “We’ll be alrights” shortly, but come on. This could be a huge blow if it lasts any longer.

The Good Kid Said,With there being no practice today, I thought it would be a perfect day for the front office to bang his deal out. I’m sure they’re working hard right now to get him signed, so heres to hopefully waking up tomorrow & finding out BJ has signed.
I personally don’t hold anything against BJ for trying to get the best deal possible for him, but I do blame the league for not setting up a rookie wage scale. This is out of hand, when players who haven’t played a down on an NFL field are getting payed more then all-pro’s then there is a BIG problem that needs to be tended to, ASAP.

andy Said,If he’s not careful, he’ll be a backup nose tackle instead of a starting defensive end. Sounds like Harrell is finally blowing people up, I’d love to see him do something this year!!

Greg C. Said,At what point will this start to do real damage to Raji the football player, and hence the team? I think it is already starting to nibble away, but it won’t become really serious unless it lasts a few more weeks. The DL is the easiest place to plug in a new player, if he’s talented. That doesn’t mean I’m not irritated by the situation, though.

PackersRS Said,We won’t be alrights. I don’t blame TT for wanting to pay the better price, nor do I blame him for wanting more money. But I do blame him for saying :”There will be no problem, as far as holding out on my end,”
“Especially a rookie coming in, you can’t afford to miss a week or two of training camp, especially when you’re trying to find a way to get on the field. Yeah, that’s my agency, but I’m in control, not the other way around.”
With all this BF drama, the last thing I want in Green Bay is a guy that says one thing and does another. He may only miss 3 or 4 practices, but after what he said, that’s too much, IMO. He will have to show a lot to impress me after this. I may be speaking only for myself, but he won’t have the same threatment I gave Hawk. He can’t just be an OK player now…

I think Raji said that before he had any idea that there was going to be a logjam with the rookie contracts. Plus, we don’t even know what he’s been offerred, so it is way premature to criticize him for this.

packerbob Said,Raji has bought into the lies of his agent. he thinks he is the next best thing to God and will not settle for less than he can get. It is now to the point where he no longer is a top ten potential and TT should start negotiating that way. Why pay a player to come in and get injured and be out for most of the year or sit on the bench because you did not get the reps and just do not know enough. he is training I am sure but so has every other holdout that has failed. These stupid rookies think they are so special but if the real pros have to come in and work their butts off to make a spot you would think they would get a clue. TT it is time to make th point and sit the guy for a year. the agent would learn to sign then instead of losing his millions.

Bob, take a break, get a cup of coffee, maybe even take a lap around block. Separate yourself from the situation a bit.
Your indignation should be directed at Michael Crabtree, not Raji.
